What a difference a day makes… 24 little hours…

on

Another full day on the allotment and more physical changes. I love this time of year where so much can change very quickly.

4B – We’ve planted out courgettes, pumpkins, mixed squash, butternut squash, cauliflowers and sprouts. All these have been lovingly grown from seeds at home starting on windowsills, then to the greenhouse and finally hardened off on the garden table. Net tunnels have been placed over the caulis, sprouts and cabbages. We sowed cabbage seeds direct into their bed a few weeks ago. Some of the beds now have wood edges and we got some sunflowers planted that we’ve also grown at home.

The rest of 4B will stay covered now until next year when the weeds underneath will hopefully have fully died back and more beds can be dug.

5B – The new patio area with our donated table and chairs has been started. We just need some bark on the floor to finish the area off.

We’ve also sprayed some strong weed killer on the problem areas of both plots so that should make a difference on the Mares Tail over the coming weeks. We’ve definitely reduced the Mares Tail since last year following regular treatment on 5B.
