Tonight we’ve got a table booked at The Hand and Flowers in Marlow which is the two Michelin star pub owned by chef Tom Kerridge. We wanted a tasty lunch so decided to try his other pub in this beautiful town.
There are no table bookings taken at The Coach so you might need to wait if it’s busy. We saw two seats at the bar and shot towards them, luckily they were available but do check on entering just in case they’re in the process of bringing people over to an area they’ve just re-set.
It was great sitting at the bar as we could see into the kitchen. I can never get my head round the organisation of a professional kitchen, how all the ingredients get pulled together to make each delicious dish. I’d be in a state and despite having an organised mind I’m sure I’d be neurotic! These guys definitely knew what they were doing.
The menu is made up of small plates that come out in no particular order. Choose two or three plates each and share as they’re served to you.
Crispy Pig’s Head With Piccalilli
Smoked Haddock And Black Pudding Scotch Egg
Rotisserie Beetroot with Goat’s Cheese, Apple and Horseradish
Fish Fritter of the Day with Tartare Sauce
The Coach Chips with Bearnaise
The food was amazing, grated horseradish and Bearnaise sauce with chips are the way forward! Oh the chips… you teally have to taste them as they’re divine. I don’t usually like black pudding but mixed with smoked haddock and it’s a taste sensation in a very good way!
Lovely staff and amazing service.
Lovely heavy linen napkins, resting wooden wedge for your cutlery between plates.
Always nice to see nice a good hand soap and hand cream in the toilets and thick paper towels to dry your hands. It’s the little things that matter!
Highly recommend you to stop for a meal if you’re in the area. Close to Slough, Maidenhead, Henley and Windsor.
