We celebrated World Book Night UK on Thursday 23 April 2015 at Medusa Bar in Horsforth.

I’ve been a WBN Book Giver for three years and I love the chance to encourage people to read.  As most of you know I live with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome… that means there’s a lot of days when I can’t do a lot and often end up in bed early or struggle to move very quickly in a morning.  Reading has helped to keep me going.  The first Christmas after I was diagnosed my mum bought me a Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas and it now means that I can read again wherever I am.  It had got to the point where I struggled to hold a book for more than a couple of pages of reading, it would take me months to read a novel… I now get through books quickly and can even enjoy reading in the sunshine in the garden as the Paperwhite has a special screen that isn’t affected by the sun’s glare.

The book that I was giving away this year was Spring Tide by Cilla and Rolf Borjlind which is a psychological thriller, my favourite kind of book!

I love that moment when cakes start to arrive at an event and the table gradually fills up!  We were all obviously inspired by books from a young age!

I really enjoyed being a Book Giver for World Book Night again and gave out copies of my book on the night.  Reading and cake is always a good mix!

A huge thank you to everyone at Medusa Bar for letting us hold our event there.

Ooh. This looks a good idea. Books AND cakes. I’m afraid World Book Night passed me by but it sounds a good idea/excuse. Cakes look brilliant. My personal fave is The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar cake was brilliant… Hannah is an Engineer and worked out the shape using the slices from a cake baked in a donut round tin similar to a bundt tin… very clever and so effective! Tasted great too 🙂 x
