I’ve just enjoyed two nights away with my mum at Pine Lake Resorts. I’d got a great deal through SecretEscapes.com and it was a two night stay for £55 a night.
My mum’s grandparents had moved to Morecambe when she was a little girl so she spent many days and weeks with them, so the idea of the trip was to take my mum down memory lane.
Just seeing signposts along the way for Carnforth and Morecambe got my mum chatting about the past, she had no idea where our final destination was as I do like to keep secrets and take people on magical mystery tours so when I plan a trip I just say when we’re going and what to pack!
We turned off the A6 into Pine Lake Resort and were immediately met with a view of the lake which in the spring sunshine looked stunning.
The staff at reception were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us, they said they all lived locally so they could offer us lots of information on the local area and there was a wall full of leaflets for local places of interest. The Lodge was also the location of the Clubhouse where there was a restaurant and entertainment.
We were allocated Lodge 260 which was near the harbour and watersports base. A lovely drive around our side of the lake, having to stop a few times to let ducks and geese cross the road, mum was in her element especially when we saw a couple of beautiful white geese. Personally I’m terriefied of Canada Geese but have to agree that the pure white geese are beautiful.
We entered our lodge and found everything was of a very high standard as described on both SecretEscapes and DiamondResorts website. The only small blemish we had in our lodge was a few pen marks on the fabric sofas and cobwebs above the patio door. We had a lodge that sleeps six people, a double bedroom with kingsize bed (twins joined together), a twin room and then sofa bed in the living room. We had a full bathroom with bath and shower as well as a separate toilet. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed and more, a dishwasher, washer, coffee percolator and plenty of crockery and glassware. Plus the view out of the kitchen window was wonderful overlooking the lake.
A nice bag full of toiletries in the bathroom and a wrapped soap in the toilet. I am all about the little touches and am pleased to say there was a high quality quilted toilet roll in each loo and having soap is always a plus point to me in accommodation.
View from our patio which had a table and six chairs.
I can honestly say that the bedding and towels were of a high quality, in fact the bed, bedding and pillows were pretty heavenly and I slept very well for both nights in the double room and mum slept very well too in the twin room.
Being self catering we did our shopping at the local Booths store in Carnforth and we enjoyed smoked bacon and scrambled eggs both mornings for breakfast. The kitchen was fully equipped with all the electrical items easy to use.
Mum enjoyed meeting ducks everytime she opened the door.
I can highly recommend Pine Lake Resort, it’s close to the coast as well as the Lake District. A great place to chill out especially out of season like we were. Even at busy times I’m sure it’s great to just sit and watch people trying to do watersports while the wildlife just carries on around them!
I would definitely stay here again.
We didn’t get chance to use the swimming pool, there is an extra charge for this.
