Almost Famous, Leeds

It’s happened… the Almost Famous burgers from Manchester have finally headed down the M62 and over the Pennines to Leeds.

Now I no longer have to be jealous of my Mancunian friends!

Our perfect excuse to visit the Leeds restaurant was the Curly One’s birthday in November 2014. We arrived about 4.30pm on a wet afternoon and were given the most amazing table ever! The restaurant soon filled up and as it’s no reservations bear that in mind if you fancy going along.  Quite a large restaurant as there’s two levels.  Talking about levels not for you if you’re in a wheelchair, three steps up from the street and another three steps up to the toilets… oh my the toilets, shiny shocking pink and fantastic light bulbs around a huge mirror… I love it when a concept goes all the way to the loos and they’ve definitely achieved a great look to the whole restaurant.

Our table was covered in sweets…. all the best sweets.

The boys ordered beer and the girls had Shakes, we had the Cloud Monkey and a Chocolate Turtle.  Both were delicious!

The burgers we chose were…

The Movember Special with a black pudding moustache with a tache tickling sauce.

Dirty fries all round… we chose a portion of Bacon Bacon and a portion of Animal Animal… not quite up to the dirtiness of the fries at The Smokehouse Burger Company on the Isle of Wight but good, very good.

The Brioche buns always cause controversy at our house, I love the added sweetness with a burger and Mr C struggles with them. These were great Brioche buns, more like a standard burger bun but with the added shine and sweetness that only Brioche can give you and they were sturdy, not falling apart at all.  The burgers and fries all kept their heat well, nothing worse than cold fries at the end of eating your burger.

Definitely recommend Almost Famous in Leeds.  You get exactly what it says on the menu!
