The Bridge Hotel, Wetherby, Yorkshire

Following our annual trip to Ladies Day at Ripon Races we booked in to stay at The Bridge Hotel near Wetherby on our way home.

I booked a voucher through Travel Zoo that cost £89.00. Our voucher included bed and breakfast and a five course evening meal.

The reception staff were very helpful and on checking in changed our room to one on the ground floor as there was no lift to the first floor rooms.

A lovely room with everything we needed. Comfy bed and good quality bedding and towels.
We loved the touch of the carafe of Port in the room.
Our evening meal was in the hotel’s Courtyard Restaurant.  The serving staff and restaurant manager were all very polite and the food was nice and well presented.  The main course was a buffet and we both chose the gammon which was served by the chef and we served ourselves with vegetables.

Parma ham, feta cheese and cherry salad

Smoked haddock and spring onion fish cake

Cream of tomato soup

Mango Sorbet

Honey Roasted Gammon with pitted cherries

Trio Dessert, chocolate brownie, cheesecake and toffee ice cream

I did find the restaurant hard to deal with due to the steps. There were steps into the restaurant from the corridor and steps down to the carvary. As I use a walking stick and have limited mobility I do struggle with steps. We could see a metal ramp which they must use for guests in wheelchairs.
We both slept very well.

Breakfast was served in the restaurant and we asked to be seated in the lower area where the continental options and the hot English breakfast items were so that I could choose my own breakfast. Again I found the stairs awkward.

We went to breakfast at 9am on a Friday morning. There was not much fresh bread out and the croissants were overbaked. The cooked breakfast items gave the impression of being out for quite a while, not very hot and not the quality I had expected which was disappointing.

There was a wedding at the hotel that day and members of the wedding party were walking along the corridor and through the restaurant rather noisily without thinking about other guests.

A lovely hotel with pretty grounds and we will probably stay again.
